A German company has decided those who are always at odds with the world and must share their unhappiness with their co-workers make the office a bad place to be. I can support this if it also banned complaining about your love life, relationships, and relatives.

Cheerful and smiling Germans? Aren't they usually the happiest when someone else if miserable? n fact they even have a word fot it, schadenfreude.
He was asking for just the outside smile. Maybe the boss is happy knowing how unhappy the workers are trying to look like they are happy.
