Moaning About My Generation

Alex Beam of the Boston Globe newspaper is another who has noticed that the boomer generation is not aging gracefully. He does a good job pointing out that old folks acting like children is just plain silly looking.

I knew a woman in (where else?) Berkeley who literally was planning on living for ever. It sees her guru was, through meditation and nutrition, over five hundred years old. I tried to explain to her that "Highlander" was a movie, but she claimed I was being deliberately negative, and I was the type of person that her guru had warned her about. I admit that living in Berkeley is pretty much the same as being frozen in time, somewhere around 1974 to be exact, but the aging process is not something can sign away on a petition or march down a street protesting. Then I could be worng, and we can expect to see mobs of aged boomers hobbling together, waving their canes, and screaming that the government find a cure for old age.

I've never understood those who think there is a secret method to stay young or stay health. If such information existed would the whole world be flocking that person who had it?
I like your joke about Highlander. I think I'll start walking the ridge lines in the mountains and hope a magic meteor hits me and grants me immortality.
